The GB sailing team managed to glide their way to the top of the Olympic medal chart last month and astound the British population watching along the way. The aim before the Rio Olympics was to achieve 3 or 4 medals, but the team surpassed that by coming top in the sailing chart, and an incredible second in the overall medal table.
This is despite several days of tough weather conditions and the teams having to interrupt their schedule with a number of postponed races. Medals were won in the women’s 470 by Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark who came away with gold, the men’s finn by Giles Scott who also achieved a gold, and windsurfer Nick Dempsey who win silver. It is clear that the sport in general is leaping ahead at a rate of knots.
After all that excitement, the team are back in the UK enjoying some well-earned relaxation time. We understand that it’s not just the team that need a rest – it’s the spectators too! And what better way to unwind than with a trip aboard our luxury yacht Samaric?
